finally playing some WoW :) shitty life can sometimes stop being so shitty.
these Seagate 7200.12 are blazing fast, 104MiB/sec on average, 140 on the inner parts, down to 65 on the far outer areas (> 900GiB area)
OTOH the 15ms random access time seems like a bummer, but as far as the benchmarks go they show it goes down to 12ms in a RAID1 setup.
that is, cloning ~700GiB of data took enough time to discourage me from also going for a OS+apps install marathon. Still need to setup RAID1
I finally went with cloning my main disk, upgrading to WinXP SP3 (I was at SP2 for some reason) and Win7 will have to wait.
just burned Ubuntu 9.04, never hurts to have an up-to-date live CD around. last one I built was Xubuntu 7.10 :\
over and out, weekend road will be a little bumpy full of data migration, installing Win7 and attending 2 birthdays. #ihatemylife
